摘要
Writing medical certificates is an integral part of medical practice. In many cases, this practice is neither necessary nor justified. Here we report the case of a 14-year-old patient who was allergic to fish. Before traveling abroad, the school asked his parents to get a medical certificate stating that this patient could recognize fish in food preparations and that he had the capacity to refuse such a dish when offered. Does the doctor have the right to refuse writing this document? Can he arrange to obtain the certificate from someone else? Should the certificate have any specific form? Does delivering such a certificate make the doctor responsible? (C) 2014 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
