Trends and challenges in organic fluorine chemistry

Organofluorine chemistry is a science which has been really developed only since World War II, but that shows a spectacular growth, essentially because of its biological applications (pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals) and the appearance of new materials. A tremendous and successful research, both from the academic world and the chemical industry, is carried out from the 70's. Numerous tools have been developed but many challenges have to be overcome, such as the control of the fluorine use under mild conditions or the stereoselective introduction of fluorine atoms as well as fluorinated moieties.
