Assessment of the vibration excitation behavior of planetary gear sets

摘要
Because of their power density planetary gears are often used in modern power transmissions. With increasing demands of comfort the vibration and noise characteristics of these transmissions are an essential part of product characteristics. For this reason, it is necessary to evaluate and optimize their excitation behavior. The main cause of the vibration and noise generation in planetary gear transmissions is the meshing. The mesh excitation is significantly influenced by the geometry of the teeth. Based on the calculation of cylindrical gears further considerations were made for planetary gear sets. Basic mechanisms and influencing factors on the excitation behavior of planetary gears are shown.
