Nursing performance in observative patient care in the positive surgery of bariatric surgery

Introduction: It is essential to pay special attention to the morbidly obese patient who is submitted to bariatric surgery, due to his condition, emotionally weakened, and possibly with other comorbidities. These aspects reinforce the need for a qualified nursing team to assist you in the immediate postoperative period, ensuring a recovery without complications and complications. Objective: To identify the role of nursing in the care provided to morbidly obese patients in the postoperative period of bariatric surgery in a private hospital in Serra Gaucha. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive quantitative research, whose data were collected through a questionnaire, with 41 nursing technicians and 7 nurses who work as participants. his activities in the post-anesthetic recovery room and inpatient sector, in a private hospital of Serra Gaucha every shift. For data analysis, descriptive statistics was performed. Results and Discussion: The research identified that respondents had doubts about specific care for this audience and difficulties related to physical spaces, materials and equipment to address the patient at the time of postoperative bariatric surgery. It was noted, however, that even in the face of these needs, the nursing staff is able to perform nursing care. Conclusion: The research showed that it is necessary to reform the physical spaces of the institution and adapt some furniture and equipment to improve the care and well-being of these patients, besides investing in care protocol, training and training for professionals.
