Operating experience with the precalciner plant at the Rudersdorf cement works

Kiln line 5 came into operation at the Rudersdorf cement works in August 1995 and has fulfilled all the specified objectives in respect of kiln throughput, clinker quality environmental protection and costs. II is worth noting that these outstanding results were achieved in production operation with the calciner kiln supplied by KHD Humboldt Wedag AG in spire of a relatively high chloride input through the lean gas from a fluidized bed gasifier. It has been shown that the increased use of secondary fuels over the previous years has not led to any deterioration in product quality. On the contrary, the product quality has in fact been improved through a reduction in the level of alkalis. Similarly, even with the increased use of secondary fuels, it has been possible to fulfil all the emission level requirements which now form an important component of any operating permit. The use of the lean gas generated from the secondary fuels has had a particularly beneficial effect on the level of NOx emissions.
