摘要
There is a growing understanding that leaving welfare is a complex process and not a discrete event. This focus section explores aspects of this process, such as (a) the significance of social networks in shaping labor market outcomes, (b) the barriers that welfare recipients face when seeking employment, and (c) the importance of job retention to earnings levels. Findings from these three studies suggest the need for innovative forms of labor market intermediation to facilitate career progression.
