Application of computer-aided tools for achieving environmental sustainability

摘要
The applications of computer technology such as Internet, Web portals, and Web links for achieving environmental sustainability, are discussed. These computer-aided tools share information and provide links to environmentally sustainable resources. These tools provide solutions for design of sustainable environment, pollution prevention, energy efficiency, green engineering, lean manufacturing, environmental health and safety, and recycling. These tools provide easy availability of information, and the ease of knowledge transfer through computer-aided information sharing, training in various sustainable options, and integration of management and information systems, innovation technologies, and reliable environmental data. These computer technologies also provide public access to compliance and enforcement information, reduce life-cycle costs and increase materials and energy efficiency, and compute environmental benefits from recycling.
