On the existence of compactly supported dual wavelets

We prove that for every minimally supported scaling function phi there exists a compactly supported dual scaling function <(phi)over bar> and thus that phi generates a biorthogonal basis of compactly supported wavelets (with compactly supported dual wavelets). (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
