Scattering of a plane electromagnetic wave by a perfectly conducting disk in the high-frequency approximation

A high-frequency asymptotic approach based on Green's formula has been used to develop a unifying framework for scattering of a plane electromagnetic wave of arbitrary incidence from a perfectly conducting planar disk of arbitrary shape with smooth edge. The method provides asymptotic formulas of uniform geometrical theory of diffraction to describe the scattered field in the near field zone. A particular case of scattering of transverse electric linear polarized wave (TE case) from disk is considered in comparison with the Kirchhoff approximation. Computer code based on the asymptotic formulas proved to be very fast and quite accurate.
