摘要：

Exophony deals with the phenomena related towriting in another language, adopted by the artist, to serve certain purposes. Based on Chantal Wright's (2010) considerations onthese phenomena, this article intends to make some observations aboutOscar Wilde's only play written in French, Salome (1893), with examples of the text in French and observing how his peculiar handling of the exophonic language impacted my translation of the play into Brazilian Portuguese.
