摘要：

Photoelectrochemical imaging is introduced. The theory is presented in outline : the basic concept is that the image displays the spatial variation of parameters of a photocurrent transfer function. Sources of image contrast due to both photoelectric and photothermal effects are described: for the latter the difference in response expected for electrochemically reversible and irreversible reactions is discussed.
