Cervantes's La fuerza de la sangre and its dramatic rewriting in Alexandre Hardy

This paper analyzes the french version of Cervantes's exemplary novel La fuerza de la sangre written by Alexandre Hardy titled La force du sang. A text in general little known in Spain that pays tribute to Cervantes through a tragicomedy whose aesthetic can be understood as an intermediate step between the french Renaissance theater and the classicist comedy of the mid-seventeenth century. Hardy, as in any rewrite, does not always remain faithful to the cervantine model, and adds, deletes or modifies, according to its own aesthetic criteria.
