摘要
To achieve the high strength structural steel plates by ferrite refinement, the ferrite transformation behavior during heavy deformation was investigated in plain low carbon steels. Steels with the composition of 0.15C-1.1Mn-0.25Si were heavily deformed in uniaxial compression mode and cooled down by using Gleeble 1500 hot deformation increased and the increasing deformation, the amount of ferrite formed during deformation increased and the ferrite grain size decreased. When a specimen was deformed by 80% at 775 degrees C and then cooled to room temperature at 10 degrees C/sec, a fine microstructure comprising small ferrite grains of about 2 mu m in size and cementites precipitating at grain boundaries was developed. From various experimental results, it could be concluded that these fine ferrites were formed by deformation induced ferrite transformation.
