摘要
A detailed understanding of the large-scale star formation processes in galaxy disks is a prerequisite to understanding the physical and evolutionary nature of the Hubble sequence, the structure and energetics of the interstellar medium, and the formation and evolution of galaxies. The increasing availability of multi-wavelength, spatially-resolved observations of galaxies has provided new insights into the demographics of the local star forming galaxy populations, the trends in star formation with type, galaxy structure, and environment, the spatial variation of star formation properties and histories within galaxies, and the parametric dependence of the local SFR on the properties and dynamics of the ISM. This review highlights recent progress in these areas.
