Note on the nonlinear stability of equivalent barotropic flows

摘要：
Two nonlinear stability theorems are proved for the equivalent barotropic stationary flows over a simply connected bounded domain by Arnold's second method. The first theorem is further extended to a limiting case. Also, bounds for the disturbance enstrophy are obtained for the particular case of zonal flows.
