摘要
Mobile satellite terminals may experience variations in the intensity and quality of their received signals as they traverse different environments. This variation is experienced due to the received signal being composed of varied proportions of line-of-sight (LOS), non-line-of-sight (NLOS) and/or shadowed signal components at the receiver. As a consequence, the satisfaction of the mobile users' quality of service (QoS) requirements may be adversely affected and network resource utilization becomes inefficient. This paper considers the implementation of an adaptive modulation and coding scheme to mitigate the effects of the dynamic channel conditions experienced by users in two environments (urban and suburban) and proposes a call admission control (CAC) policy to guarantee the satisfaction of accepted users' QoS requirements and efficiently utilize the network resources.
