摘要
Nanocrystalline CuFeS2- chalcopyrite has been mechanosynthesized for the first time at room temperature by ball milling the stoichiometric mixture of elemental powders of Cu, Fe and S under argon atmosphere. It has been noticed that a nanocrystalline CuS has been formed at the early stage of milling. Some additional phases like FeO(OH) and Fe-3(SO4)(2)(OH)(5).2H(2)O are noticed to form in 1 h ball milled sample may be due to exposure of sample surface to air for a substantial time. Nanocrystalline non-stoichiometric CuFeS2 phase is formed within 3-5 h of milling from the nanocrystalline mixture of CuS and FeS2 as the final product contains a small amount of FeS2 phase.
