Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology in Library: Advantages and Issues

RFID is one of most sought after technology being used in library among all services which may be trusted for providing fast and reliable information with full security of library items i. e. Reading materials, etc. This paper presents an overview of miscellaneous RFID based systems being used in libraries. This review work discussed in this paper brings out the nearly all relevant information related to RFID, different components of RFID, use and way of implementation of RFID in libraries. This paper also discusses the new approaches of RFID in libraries, how it can be used as anti-theft detection device which solves the case of missing book. Author has tried to present the importance and usability of RFID in libraries along with the concept of up-gradation focusing advantages of RFID system.
