New roller concepts for extreme applications

摘要：
By using high-purity synthetic raw materials on the basis of Al2O3, SiO2 and ZrO2, it was possible to increase the application temperature of white oxide ceramic rollers up to 1600°C depending on the load. For applications with the risk of chemical attack through kiln furniture, SiO2-free ceramic was developed as an alternative roller material. Even in applications up to 1250°C in metal-treatment kilns, high-purity synthetic roller materials were proved to be effective. Liquid phase reactions were not able to penetrate the porous ceramic microstructure and destroy it.
