摘要
In this study, methylglyoxal was used to form the aged and oxidant damaged model on the ICR mice to simulate long-term methylglyoxal intake from daily diet. The ability of epigallocatechin-3-gallate on reversion of the oxidative damage was evaluated by examining the activities of antioxidant function related enzymes and histopathology observation of animal tissues. Significant increases were observed in the specific activities of glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase while increasing the doses of epigallocatechin-3-gallate. These findings showed the adverse effects of chronic methylglyoxal intake and the reversion ability of epigallocatechin-3-gallate on the antioxidant defence system.
