摘要
Many adolescents are sexually experienced, and adolescents have the highest rates of diagnosis for several treatable sexually transmitted infections (STI). Because STI are usually asymptomatic, national guidelines have been developed to help clinicians determine which STI to screen for in various populations. Available tests for common STI vary in terms of sensitivity, availability, cost, and clinical specimens that may be tested. For symptomatic adolescents, the clinician may take a systematic approach to evaluation and management, taking into consideration clinical findings, epidemiology, and the use of appropriate laboratory studies. Single-dose drug regimens are effective for the management of several common STI.
