摘要
A field-induced smectic layer rearrangement has been investigated in the smectic A phase of non-symmetric dimeric liquid crystals possessing cyanobiphenyl and phenylpyrimidine groups. The dimerization of mesogens likely lowers the stability of smectic layer structures, and smectic layers are rearranged by applying a low electric field in both planarly and homeotropically aligned cell geometries.
