摘要
Research and development is one of the most important fields of regional economy. Its institutions are significant part of knowledge generation and diffusion subsystem. Indicators characterizing research and development are used for evaluation of knowledge and innovation potential. Highly qualified people are employed in this segment. Employment in this sector is one of the key factors of evaluations. The aim of this paper is to compare changes in employment in research and development in the Czech regions on the basis of data from 2005 and 2014. Localization quotient is used for measuring the size of sector. By comparing values of localization quotients and employment the localization quotients index and index of employment are calculated. Results proved elite position of Prague, strengthening level of the South Moravian Region and positive changes of employment in research and development in other regions. In all regions the share is increasing, the biggest qualitative change is observed in regions with residence of a research university.
