Empirical Electricity Demand Curve Modeling: Case Dominican Republic's Power Industry

Dominican Republic's power sector is one of the major restrictions of the country's economy growth. Although that this is a major problem, the published literature about studies about this country's electricity demand curve is scarce. This papers aims to close this gap by determining an empirical electricity demand curve for this country. A linear model and a log-linear model were selected to describe the demand curve. The models coefficients are estimated using linear regression method with 15 years of historical data. After estimating the coefficients, the models are compared using its determination coefficient and the confidence level for each of theirs coefficients.
