CLEANER PRODUCTION IN CUENCA'S MANUFACTURING COMPANIES (ECUADOR)

The objective of the research is to create a tool that identifies the percentage of Cleaner Production application in a company, and whether it is done empirically or scientifically. The methodology is based on a qualitative analysis of literature review. First, a theoretical framework on Cleaner Production, its benefits, tools, application barriers and end of tube concept was developed. Secondly, the tool based on six Cleaner Production techniques was created. It was structured as follows: the first three techniques are Ecomapas, Ecobalances and Substance Analysis, for their diagnostic function; the MED matrix performs a more complete analysis of the product life cycle and its environmental impacts at each stage. Finally, the risk analysis and environmental audit are presented that identify potential risks and if they are complying with current environmental management legislation.
