Numerical simulations of coal gasification in a pressurized circulating fluidized bed reactor with carbon dioxide

A 3-dimensional numerical model was developed on basis of Eulerian-Lagrangian computational particle fluid dynamics to simulate the CO, gasification of coal in a fluidized bed gasifier. Coal drying, pyrolysis as well as homogeneous and heterogenous reactions were taken into consideration. The model was verified with exptl. data from a pilot plant (coal capacity 50-200 kg/h) gasification reactor. A good agreement of calcd. and exptl. data was achieved.
