Mobile Learning and Its Impact on Learning English Vocabulary

Mobile learning is nowadays becoming a well-established methodology in the institutions of higher learning. The key reasons comprise easy portability and accessibility of mobile devices, as well as ubiquity of wireless environment, and the opportunity of informal and personalized approaches to learning. The purpose of this article is to discuss whether the use of a mobile application developed for English vocabulary learning for students of Management of Tourism at the Faculty of Informatics and Management in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, is effective. The methodology of this study was based on an experiment, which consisted of a group of students who used the app and of those who did not. The findings of this study show that the use of mobile app for English vocabulary learning is effective as suitable support to traditional, face-to-face classes.
