摘要
Qualitative study focusing on themes related to suicide and the LGBT community on Twitter posts. Search was performed on this social network in Portuguese with the terms "suicide and LGBT". The Thematic Analysis highlighted the categories: "The risk of suicide in the LGBT population", "Personal experiences related to suicide", "Use of the term `suicide' out of literal meaning", "Prevention", "Little discussion about suicide and LGBT" and "Criticisms, offenses and distortions". Tweets featured content highlighting the key risk and protective factors for suicidal behavior in the LGBT community through comprehensive, informative, or derogatory messages. The stigmata surrounding such themes are widely disseminated in the social network. The uncritical way in which the phenomenon of suicide in the LGBT population is tackled reveals the society's unpreparedness to deal with this complex issue, to reduce the vulnerability of the social segment exposed to these messages.
