Spanish Colonial Literature at the Beginning of the 20th Century

The article reviews the theoretical reflection on the concept of "colonial literatura" in Spain in the early twentieth century and compares it to the texts of French colonial writers. It also introduces the figure of Jose de Gardoqui, Africanist soldier and writer, probably the only Spanish theorist on colonial literature, and exposes the difficulties of presenting a definition that encompasses colonial literature dedicated to Morocco and Guinea, very different realities.
