摘要
Obesity can affect every aspect of a person's life, whether socially, psychically and physically, which can cause suffering. This research aimed to understand if there is using of bioethical principles in the care with obese patients. This is descriptive research that used literature review methodology, employing the descriptors "obesity" and "bioethics" in Portuguese and English, selected at DECs at the Virtual Health Library in the last 15 years. The results showed concern with the bariatric surgery in children and adolescents, as well as with the ethical and legal care pertinent to this surgical process. There are few types of research developed in Brazil linking bioethics and obesity pointing out the need for inserting social and human sciences in the training of doctors, in addition with interdisciplinary debates in the bioethics area.
