Improvements in gas turbine manufacturing at EGT

Cellular Manufacture has been recognized for some years as a means of organizing manufacturing facilities for improvement. This paper describes a successful implementation in a small-batch, high-technology environment of gas turbine manufacture. As well as the expected benefits in terms of reduced lead time and inventories, improvements in team-working, problem-solving and skills development have resulted.
