Dynamic Performance Analysis of a Wind Turbine Generating System using a Current-Source Thyristor Inverter

摘要
DC-link type wind turbine generating systems are expected to be increasingly used because they can be operated for a wide range of wind velocity with relatively high efficiency. So far, voltage-source PWM inverters are exclusively used for this type of system to convert generated power to AC power with constant voltage and frequency. However, for the cases to enlarge power ratings of the system drawbacks emerge such as reduction in the system reliability because this type of inverter needs smoothing capacitors and IGBTs. On the other hand, a new DC-link type wind turbine generating system using a current-source thyristor inverter (TDU method system) was proposed. The usage of this system can keep away from the drawbacks of the voltage-source PWM inverter. A dynamic model of the TDU wind turbine generating system is derived in this paper, and the experimental and simulated results for the cases of changes in the wind velocity are compared to confirm the usefulness of the model.
