Because the initial crack size, the stress, the material properties and other factors that may affect the fatigue crack growth, the fatigue crack growth rate are statistically distributed. The upper limit of fatigue crack growth rate is required in safety analysis. Three kinds of methods that determine the upper limit of fatigue crack growth rate (given confidence limit and tolerance limit) are presented in this paper. From the proposed methods, the maximum crack size at any service time or the minimum service time to reach any given crack size is easily obtained. Based on the experimental data, the correctness of the presented methods is discussed.
