摘要
Objective: Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading global causes of deaths, causing more deaths than all other causes combined. The aim of the study is to determine the rates of people having screening tests and affecting factors among the primary health care (PHC) applicants. Material and Method: This is a cross-sectional study. This study was conducted in Yozgat province center, Turkey. The questionnaire form was applied to adults above 18 year of age (n=1085). All data were collected through the questionnaire by the interviewer Binary logistic regression was used to analyze the data. Results: Twelve percent of the participants had some hind of cancer screening tests, 22.1% of them had a general checkup in the last two years, 85.9% had a blood pressure (BP) check within two years, 57.1% had a blood glucose (BG) test within two years and 55.9% had blood cholesterol (BC) levels checked within five years. In general, certain groups were more likely to have screening tests, particularly women, patients older than 40, those with an education level inclusive of high school and over, and those with moderate or good economic status. Conclusion: While the applicants of the PHC in the city center had less frequent cancer screening and general health checks than that of the average population, they had more frequent BP, BG and BC screening tests. It is recommended that screening tests should be done according to the personal characteristics of the patient and applicants should be consulted about the application frequency of these tests.
