Since the first one in 1986, the US Forest Service has hosted a biennial conference on remote sensing for workers in natural resource management where they could exchange information about their projects and needs. This paper briefly reviews the history of the conference inducting an analysis of the subjects of the papers that have been given. An invitation to participate is extended to others who may be interested in how airborne reconnaissance, remote sensing space based sensors, GIS, GPS, and research are used by Forest Service personnel in the management of natural resources.
