The rediscovered molluscs collected by Karl E. von Baer in the Caspian Sea (1853-1857) and described by Stephan Clessin and Wladyslaw Dybowski (in Dybowski [1887-1888]) are studied and illustrated. Altogether 26 species were described, 15 as new, by Clessin and W. Dybowski. In the Baer collection, we were able to identify the type series of 13 of these species, as well as syntypes of Neritina schultzii Grimm, 1877, Andrusovia dybowskii Brusina in Westerlund, 1903 and of Anisus kolesnikovi sublittoralis Logvinenko & Starobogatov, 1966. We provide a detailed review, with illustrations and taxonomic remarks, of syntypes and newly designated lectotypes, as well as notes on non-type specimens in the collection. We also provide pertinent comments on systematics and nomenclature.
