摘要：
We analyse the duration T that a two-level quantum system spends in one of its states over a time T. We show that the approaches based on constructing for T a Hermitian operator or on separating the system's virtual paths yield different results. The two approaches are linked to predictive and finite-time measurements, respectively, which disagree in the quantum case. Existence of a finite-time Zeno effect is demonstrated and discussed in detail.
