Indoor Positioning Based on LED-Camera Communication

摘要
We proposed an indoor positioning scheme based on visible light communication, which is quite different from RF-based positioning using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. Because of the line-of-sight transmission characteristic of visible light, signal spreading in a relatively definite scope, positioning accuracy is greatly increased. A kind of household LED luminaire is selected as the transmitter, which is embedded with modulation modules to send frequency signals, and camera equipment is used as the receiver. In this paper, a detailed analysis on the LED-Camera channel is made, and stable visible light communication is achieved; then, a positioning algorithm is proposed to realize 2-dimensional localization; finally, a testbed of 50cm by 50cm is set up to verify the scheme. The experiment result indicates that the positioning error can be limited within 5 cm, confirming the superiority of the visible light positioning scheme.
