摘要
Identity issues studies play crucial part in Russian and world humanitaristics. In Russia the scholars' interest in identity studies including the issues of corporate identity increased at the turn of the XXI century. That was caused by the rapidly changing Russian social reality and the structural transformations in Russian society which influence formation of new identities and transformation of the existing ones. University faculty is a special social category of Russian society. Despite being a relatively sparse group, even from the XIX century, it played a significant part in the life of the country and often was a marker of the social and political processes occurring in Russia. Studying the evolution of teaching staff's corporate identity is critical as application of research approaches offered by this theory provides answers to the questions concerning academic professors' self-identification, university corporate culture formation, university professor's behavioral patterns in different circumstances. The article is intended for those who are interested in the Russian history and the history of higher education and science.
