Polarization-independent splitter based on all-solid silica-based photonic-crystal fibers

摘要
A novel polarization-independent splitter based on index-guiding all-solid silica-based photonic-crystal fibers is proposed. The polarization-independent feature of the splitter is realized by reducing the difference in coupling lengths between the two polarization states to lower than 1%, which is due to the low index contrast in the splitter. Numerical results obtained for a device length of 10.69 mm show crosstalks of as low as -20 dB with bandwidths as great as 25.4 and 42.2 nm around the wavelengths of 1.55 and 1.31 mu m, respectively.
