Photochemical Decolorization of Direct-red 4BS in the Presence of H2O2 and α-Fe2O3 under Visible Light Irradiation

摘要
The photochemical decolorization of a azo dye direct red 4BS on alpha-Fe2O3 in the presence of H2O2 and visible light was investigated. The influence of H2O2 dosage, alpha-Fe2O3 dosage, solution pH was studied. The decolorization of 4BS was attributed to the forming surface complex between 4BS and alpha-Fe2O3, which facilitates the electron transfer from alpha-Fe2O3 to azo bond. Substantially enhanced by increasing H2O2 dosage up to 7 ml/l, beyond which concentration no negative results on decolorization efficiency was observed. No mineralization of 4BS occurred but only chromogenic group was destroyed in the photo- chemical reaction. Chemical adsorption of 4BS on alpha-Fe2O3 was critical to affect the decolorization efficiency.
