Contemporary Popular Music Studies Proceedings of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music 2017 Introduction

This chapter provides introductory remarks to the book and overviews all papers - including their methodologies and examples - with respect to the editors' division into particular themes (history and theory of popular music, education and popular music, punk, electronic dance music, popular music ensembles, popular music video, popular music festivals, new issues and approaches). Their positioning within the framework of the 19th Biennial Conference of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (Kassel, 26-30 June 2017) is considered, as well as their contribution to contemporary popular music studies.
