摘要
An overview of the SAR ability at C-band in monitoring vegetation biomass and soil parameters is given in this paper. The results obtained in the past by using multi-frequency SAR data have been compared to data sets obtained from ENVISAT/ASAR sensor at C-band, in 2003 and 2004. Experiments were conducted on an agricultural area and a mountainous area, the Cordevole watershed, in Northern Italy. The effect of different types of vegetation on the radar signal was pointed out, as well as the sensitivity to soil moisture. A discrete element model based on the radiative transfer theory was used to correct the backscattering data for the effect of vegetation biomass.
