Preliminary observations on heavy metals in water and sediments in a stretch of river Ganga and some of its tributaries.

摘要
Heavy metals are known to adversely affect the aquatic environment, hence zinc, arsenic and chromium in the polluted water and sediments in R. Ganga (Kanpur to Varanasi), R. Yamuna (Allahabad), R. Ramganga (Moradabad to Bareilly) and R. Gomti (Kooraghat to Jaunpur) have been studied. It is revealed that the pollutional load of R. Ganga and R. Gomti were maximum in respect of zinc, arsenic and chromium.
