EVALUATING THE ENERGY AND EXERGY UTILIZATION EFFICIENCIES OF RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES IN A NEW URBAN DISTRICT OF SOUTH CHINA

摘要
A new urban district has been developed in Xiangtan, a city in Hunan province of south China. Low grade energy in surface water and solar energy are utilized for the purpose of energy saving and environmental improvement, and an open-loop Surface water heat pump (SWHP) system and some solar domestic hot water (SDHW) systems were constructed in the urban district. This study evaluates the energy and exergy utilization efficiencies of renewable energy resources (RERs) by using energy and exergy analyses. We found the energy and exergy efficiencies of the SWHP system in heating mode to be 395% and 17.78%, respectively. The energy and exergy efficiencies for the SDHW systems were found to be 34.96% and 17.5%, respectively. The research results indicate the necessity of exergy efficiency improvement. Some measures improving the exergy utilization efficiency of RERs are discussed.
