Research on Data Collection Protocol Based on Clustering for Sensor Network

Data collection is one of the main functions in wireless sensor networks, while the efficiency of data collection protocol is a key factor of affecting network lifetime in modern wireless sensors. In order to extend the network lifetime, a novel data collection protocol named IDCP is proposed based on traditional clustering algorithms in this paper and new clustering topology formation algorithm and new data forwarding algorithm are proposed during clustering formation and data forwarding stage. In setting stage all nodes take shape of clusters. In data forwarding stage all forwarded information are analyzed by all common nodes in clusters and the information between the two adjacent time At are analyzed according to the expected value. If the analysis result is less than the expected value, information is not transmitted, otherwise information is transmitted. Experiments and results analysis show that, the improved algorithms consider the effects on node energy and sense reliability factor properly, it is better than the old algorithms in cluster head selection and data forwarding and its network processing ability and performance are both better.
