LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT BIG DATA: LEARNING ANALYTICS METHODS AND TOOLS FOR VISUALIZATION

Big data is often presented as an iceberg most of which is hidden underwater. The purpose of this article is to search a way to reveal as much as possible from the hidden part through data visualization. A review of existing Learning Analytics methods for data analysis like click-stream analytics and natural language processing and their corresponding tools for data presentation is proposed. Visual component and applications in help to understand and optimize learning process and eLearning environment are discussed. Data collection standards for interoperability between systems and tools are commented. Authors' experience and challenges in using some of the presented methods and tools are shared, recommendations for performance tips are suggested.
