摘要
The triazine molecule is a major member of the family of the heterocyclic compounds, which occurs in a wide range of pharmaceutical ingredients and natural products. A number of triazine derivatives have been reported as efficient corrosion inhibitors due to the presence of three nitrogen atoms symmetrically arranged in a six-membered ring. Further, the presence of lone pair electrons on the N atoms and any substituents attached to the triazine ring in the form of the electron-donating/ withdrawing groups significantly improve the adsorption of these molecules on the target metallic substrate and function as effective corrosion inhibitors. Herein, an overview of the biological activity, synthesis, and the diverse applications of the triazines is presented with a literature review on the corrosion inhibition performance of triazine derivatives. The mechanistic details on the adsorption of the triazines on the metallic surfaces employing the experimental and computational studies are also presented in this review article. Some of the prospects of research in this area are also explored for interested readers and researchers. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
