ASTROS3*with smart structures and ASE modules: Application to flutter suppression and gust-load alleviation

摘要
Recent development of a smart structures module and its successful integration with a multidisciplinary design optimization software ASTROS* and an Aeroservoelasticity (ASE) module is presented. Two application examples have been worked out to demonstrate the integrated software capability. These include the active flutter suppression of a modeled F-16 wing using piezoelectric(PZT) actuators, and the gust-load alleviation of a modeled F-18 ail craft using control surfaces. For a closed-loop system as opposed to an open-loop system, the former case shows PZT actuator enabling to stable all otherwise unstable modes, whereas in the latter case the RMS modal responses were found substantially reduced.
