Children's games, toys and playthings in ancient Palestine - Iconographic evidence and archaeological documentation

Children's games are very common in ancient Palestine. The literary and epigraphic documents are rare, as is the iconographic evidence. Archaeological documentation is better represented. The most important games were: hide-and-seek, sandpits, dolls, tops, ball, knuckle-bones, board games, bull-roarers, lots. The main games were common to adults and children. The diverse roles appropriate to the patriarchal society in ancient Palestine were respected.
